HMS Queen Elizabeth
I haven't been doing any modeling for a while, so thought I would get back into the swing of things by making Trumpeter's new tooling version of HMS Queen Elizabeth 1/700
I purchased the model from Modelzone, I didn't purposely go in there for it, but you know what it's like, dont go in the sweet shop if you want to save money lol
I have to be honest and say, after getting home I opened the box and was amazed to see how much effort Trumpeter must have put into making this little beauty, the detail is superb for a 1/700 scale model, and a small Etched Brass detail set was included.T
The kit also supplies both full hull and waterline pieces.
I started by painting the hull using Timiya's TS-33
Time to start working on the decks! I couldn't get over how much effort had gone into detailing the decks for such a small model, yes it might not be accurate but it's still impressive.
I made my own deck colour mix, I'm not sure if it's me being fussy, but there just doesnt seem to be a ready made colour I like.
I will add a wash of diluted brown ink later, just to try and pick out the plank detailing, not sure it worked, but I do like the effect.
I made a start on the bridge, the parts go together with real precision and ease, and the added detail of the etched brass, makes this feel like a quality model, even if I do need a magnifier to see correctly lol.
Last night I painted the upper hull and all the bridge parts, along with the guns etc, I will get some pictures shortly and put them up, but so far I am really impressed with this model.
